Brian and Sony Indian Wedding at Sea Cliff Country Club

I enjoyed Brian and Sony’s wedding at Sea Cliff Country Club in Huntington Beach.  They had a traditional Indian Wedding ceremony and reception.

The Ceremony lasted for 45 minutes including readings, fire and food.  This was my first Indian Ceremony and I really enjoyed listening and watching.   Brian and Sony then had pictures taken by Greg Bumatay from Bumatay Studios. I must mention that working with Greg is a blast.  He has a great personality and our clients love him.  The images in this blog are from Greg.

SeaCliff Country Club is an awesome place to get married.  The scenery is beautiful, with palm trees and manicured greens in the background.  The cocktail room has a bar and is very roomy for your guests to mingle and enjoy appetizers.  The main room for the reception can fit up to 200 guests.  Right outside of the main room is another bar and mingling area.  The staff led by Chelsea and Renee do an awesome job at coordinating and helping guests with their needs.

The Reception was a blast, we had a grand entrance with songs for each couple being introduced.  We also did a chair dance and had lots of indian music.

I played numerous current song requests with traditional indian music.  DJ Todd from Essential Mobile Music

Orange Counties finest Photographer

I have the pleasure of sharing an office with Joe Broccardo from Broccardo photography.  Joe has been a professional photographer for over 15 years.  Joe’s clients love his carefree style and has the uncanny ability to put everyone at ease when he shoots.

When I work with Joe at weddings he is always in tune with the days itinerary.  He will check in to see when the Grand Entrance is supposed to happen and all major events.  When toasts are given, he will even take the microphone to the next person giving the toast.  This may seem like a small thing, but it is the behind the scenes actions by your vendors that make an event run smoothly.

Joe has become such a wedding insider that he formed, “the OC Wedding Pros networking group”.  This networking group has monthly meetings and has grown to over 70 wedding professionals.  Joe spends countless hours everyday researching and finding ways to make the wedding industry a better experience for our clients.

Broccardo photo is not limited to doing just weddings.  Joe shoots food, family photos and corporate events as well.  He has done our family photos for the past 4 years and my wife loves how quick and easy the sessions are.

I know I may be biased, but having worked with over 100 different photographers, Joe Broccardo is the best by far.

The Advice dollar

We use the advice dollar as a memento for your wedding day. There are many ways to use the advice dollar.

  • We put advice dollars in each napkin on the tables. We tell the audience to write advice to the bride and groom. During dinner we go around to the tables and have one person from each table read there advice to the bride and groom. This can be used to give away centerpieces etc.
  • We use the advice dollar for the money dance. We can put a paper clip on the advice dollars and invite the guests to dance with the bride and groom for the advice dollar dance. We announce that if anyone would like to make a donation a paper clip is attached to the advice dollars.
  • The third way to use the Advice dollar is to put a big Jar on the gift table. Have a few Advice dollars in the jar with money attached. We then let everyone know to drop their advice into the advice jar on the gift table.

This is just one of the many innovative ideas we have for your wedding reception.  We will help you create a personal, memorable reception that keeps your guests involved and have them saying, WOW that was fun.

The Best Wedding Reception Ever

DJ/MC, Peter Merry did a fantastic job in writing his book, “The Best Wedding Reception…Ever.” I was reluctant to purchase this book as thought I had the best wedding formula in the industry.

Well I put the ego aside and checked it out and what I found was a fantastic resource. Peter not only gave his views about each event, (1st dance, cake cutting etc.), but incorporated other DJ’s from around the United States. This was a brilliant move and I personally learned a thing or two.

Our DJ/Wedding industry needs more professionals that care about putting on a top rate performance and service. This book is a step in that direction.

The Importance of Song Selection

A song can tell a story, bring back a memory and make celebrations of life.

As a DJ it is our job to, “read the crowd”, and figure out what kind of music they would enjoy.
A perfect example was my event on Valentines day. There were over 120 older folks, ages 50 to 70. I knew I would not play any song past 1975 unless it was requested. I started off the dancing with two classics, At Last by Etta James and Unchained Melody by the Righteous Brothers. Then I kicked up the pace with Sugar Pie Honey Bunch and Build me up buttercup. The crowd was responding to these songs so I continued with Twist and Shout, Wooly Bully and All Shook Up. We went as far as Run Around Sue, Proud Mary, Old Time Rock n Roll and Brown Sugar.
I had many compliments from the guests as they were leaving. Most pointed out that I stayed in there generation of music and they appreciated my efforts.
As a Bride or Party host always consider what your guests might enjoy with music selection.
You will have a more successful event when your guests are happy singing and dancing. When you have guests that range from 20-?? try to have crowd pleasers played. The rule is the younger generation will dance to most anything, but the older folks will not dance to todays music for the most part. I usually kick off my nights with a couple of current songs , (Black Eyed Peas, Lady Gaga) to let the younger generation know we will be cool and play current stuff. Then I will kick into a 50s megamix, Beatles I saw her Standing There, Sugar Pie Honey bunch etc. From there I build my sets 70s, 80s and so on. Depending on what the crowd is responding to, once again “reading the crowd”.

Great Pre-ceremony/Ceremony music

Most of todays brides do not want to walk down the aisle to the traditional wedding march.  At EMM http://www.emobilemusic.com we recommend The Vitamin String Quartet.  http://www.vitaminstringquartet.com

The break out Vitamin String Quartet ingeniously transforms today’s most popular songs and styles with the beauty and intensity of classical string instrumentation.  A must-listen for classical and pop audiences alike, VSQ’s diverse catalog brings the world of contemporary music to fascinating new life.

My favorite performed by the Quartet

1. Clocks

2. Wonderwall

3. Don’t stop believin

4. Chasing cars

5. Starlight

6. Sweet child o mine

7. Hey there delliah

8. God only knows

9. Stairway to heaven

10. All I want is you
